Dr Awhad seeks Maharashtra’s GST share of Rs 24,000 crore
Maharashtra Housing Minister Dr Jitendra Awhad has tagged state’s former Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis in his tweet seeking Rs 24,000 crore, which is Maharashtra’s share of the Good and Services Tax (GST).
Dr Awhad has mocked in his tweet that he does not remember how many zeros are in 20 lakh crore. This is a reference to the Rs 20 lakh crore collected by the Central Government as GST and distributed to states and union territories. Through the tweet, he said he would like to know worth how many zeroes is the share Maharashtra got.
The Minister pointed out that Maharashtra got a mere Rs 10,715 crore, which is only 0.5 per cent of the GST collected. He also tweeted that the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ventilators and medical kits sent by the Union Government after the outbreak of COVID 19 pandemic, was also stopped after a while.
