Oh God! Tirupati Balaji worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, popularly known as Tirupati Balaji temple is worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore, which is about US $ 30 billion.

The Devasthanam has declared its assets for the first time since its inception in 1933. The assets include 10.25 tonnes of gold deposits in banks, 2.5 tonnes of gold jewellery, about Rs 16,000 crore of deposits in banks, and 960 properties across India. The total value of the assets is over Rs 2.5 lakh crore.

Every day thousands of devotees visit the temple and many are known to offer money, gold, gold jewellery and other precious metals and stones, making it the richest place of worship in India, with declared assets.

With such huge worth, the Devasthanam is richer than several well-known commercial establishments in India.
