Coal crisis created, capital forced pay more for power: Delhi Power Minister

The Delhi Government is being compelled to buy electricity at five times the average rate, according to Delhi Power Minister Satyender Jain.

Jain said yesterday that all coal-based power plants supplying power to Delhi are non-functional.  The Power Minister charged that the Central Government has stopped giving gas to Delhi at controlled rate, as a result the Delhi Government has to buy gas at market rate to generate electricity. Delhi, has gas-powered electricity generating plants.

“It looks like the crisis is being created. If there is no shortage of coal, why is NTPC not producing electricity to its full capacity,” Jain stated.
