Save the Country, Remove Modi Government campaign on August 9
Jan Andolan Sangharsh Samiti (Save the Country, Remove Modi Government Maharasthra) (JASS) has called for a Desh Bachao, Modi Sarkar Hatao (Save the Country, Remove Modi Government) campaign on August 9, the Quit India Day.
Demonstrations will be held Jointly by JASS, Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee and Labour Unions Joint Action Committee, Maharashtra at August Kranti Maidan, Mumbai at 4 pm. Similar demonstrations will be held at 400 places in 35 districts of Maharashtra, including outside collector and tehsildar offices.
A press note released on behalf of JASS by Vishwas Utagi said the a majority of Indians have faced severe problems since 2014, after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power and was re-elected in 2019.
The people suffered due to demonetisation, mismanagement of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and lack of proper planning in handling COVID 19 pandemic, the press release said.
The JASS has demanded that all Labour Codes, the Farm Laws and Electricity Bill 2021 be scrapped; importance be given to fight starvation deaths and to the right to life; an end to labour and pay cut in organisations; all vacancies in government organisations be filled and there should be an end to the annual three per cent cut in government jobs; withdrawal of the decision to halt recruitment in private and public sector; increase in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) budget and enhancement of number of days of employment as well as remuneration under it; employment guarantee in urban areas and making Right to Work as a Fundamental Right; a monthly financial aid of Rs 7,000 per month to those who do not qualify for payment of income tax; increase in the health budget and strengthening of health services at all levels; an end to vaccination that helps the capitalists make money; provision of protective gear and insurance cover to all frontline workers like anganwadi employees, ASHA workers; stop the privatisation and disinvestment of public sector enterprises; stop inflation and control the prices of fuel and essential commodities; and social security for working class among other things.
JASS has called upon the Maharashtra government to desist from implementing the central farm laws in the state; strengthen the co-operative sector in the state; repealing of the Land Acquisition Act 2013, passed by the Devendra Fadnavis and ensure the non-implementation of the anti-labour laws, including fixed term employment in the state. By doing this, the state government can prove that it is different from the anti-people Union government, the press release said.
