Dhanbad girl scores 10th All India Rank in IES

Lakeshwari Kumar Jaiswal of Dhanbad has secured the tenth rank in the country in Indian Engineering Services (IES) in Electronics and Telecommunication. IES is a civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

Jaiswal, comes from a humble background, her father, Shiv Narayan Jaiswal owns a grocery store in Bhunja More of Sindri in Dhanbad.

After studying in Sindri till her 12th class, Lakeshwari secured admission for BTech in Electronics Engineering in the Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Kolkata.

In an interview to local media, she said that proper selection of topics based on previous year questions is crucial for preparation for UPSC examination. According to her, she cleared the mains in the first attempt in 2019, but failed to clear the interview stage, falling short by a few marks. She changed her strategy for the second attempt and cleared it. She is now posted in Indian Railways at Guwahati.

She attributes her success to her parents and found motivators in her neighbourhood, extended family and her parents.
