Fanatic Hindus oppose namaz in Gurugram; Muslims pray for Hindu-Muslim unity

Even as fanatic Hindus continued their opposition to the Friday namaz in Gurugram, some Muslims, who could offer namaz prayed for the Hindu-Muslim unity.

Muslims have been offering the Friday namaz for years in the open space in Sector 37 of Gurugram, but for the last few months fanatic Hindus have been protesting against use of the ground for namaz and have been trying to disrupt the Friday prayers.

Today too, a mob of Hindu fanatics came to Sector 37 at the time of the namaz and started shouting slogans of Jai Shri Ram, even as Muslims started gathering for their prayers. Some members of the mob also tried to physically stop the Muslims from offering namaz. Videos circulated on social media show the fanatics saying that namaz cannot be offered there.

The police pushed the protestors away and ensured that the namaz was offered.

Less number of people were seeing offering the namaz today. The contribution of Muslims in the freedom struggle was recalled during the prayers, which also sought unity between the two religious groups.

The police detained some of the protestors, including Bharat Mata Vahini leader Dinesh Bharti, who has been at the forefront of these protests across namaz sites in Gurugram since September.
