Farmers plough adamant Centre, reap results in 378 days

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has announced the end of the protest by farmers, on the boundaries of Delhi, after a formal letter from the government announcing a proposal, including the assurance that all cases registered against the protesting farmers would be withdrawn unconditionally.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, a body of farmers’ organisations, was to hold a rally tomorrow, before starting the retreat of farmers to their homes, but have postponed the rally to December 11, due to the due to the death of 13 defence personnel in the helicopter crash on Wednesday.

The government said in its letter sent on Wednesday that in the light of the proposals forwarded by it, there was no point in the continuation of the protest and appealed to the farmers to call of the agitation.

While announcing the withdrawal of the agitation, the farmers’ leaders said that they will review the situation on January 15 to review the situation and if the government fails to keep its promise, the protests will start again.

The farmers have already been successful in forcing the government to withdraw the three farm laws, which was one of the demands of the farmers.
