‘Honour killing’ in Karnataka

In a suspected case of ‘honour killing’, the body of a resident of Balangur village of Raichur district of Karnataka, was found in a 15-feet deep well in a farm.

Ameena Begum, a resident of the same village, has lodged a complaint with the Almel police stating that Ravi Nimbaragi, with whom she was in a relationship, stating that he was murdered by her family members, as they were opposed to the relationship.

The 24-year-old lady had initially lodged a complaint with the local police stating that her 32-year-old friend was missing. However, on finding his body, a murder case has been registered. The police recovered the body on a tip-off.

Confirming that the body is of Nimbaragi, the police said that two persons have been arrested in connection with the case and more people are expected to be involved in the killing. Incidentally, this is said to be the third ‘honour killing’ in this part of the district.
