Meghalaya appoints Peter Dkhar as peace talk interlocutor

Meghalaya government has appointed Peter S Dkhar, a retired Indian Adminstrative Services (IAS) officer as interlocutor for facilitating peace talks with banner organisation Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).

The Union Government has given the go-ahead to the state government to initiate the peace process. Dkhar was the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills. He will be assisted by Advisor, Ministry of Home Affairs, North East and former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer A K Mishra.
