Janshatapdi runs like Indian economy,

uncontrolled and in reverse direction

Purnagiri Janshatabdi train of North Eastern Railway, ran like the Indian economy yesterday, in reversed direction.

The train ran uncontrolled in the reverse direction for over 35 kms between Khatima and Tanakpur in Uttarakhand. Luckily, there was no mishap.

According to North Eastern Railway officials, the cause of these was that a cow on the railway track, was run over by the train and after the loco pilot released the vacuum brake, the train started moving in the reverse direction.

On realising the problem, the level crossings on the route were closed to avoid accidents when all efforts to stop the train failed, the railway authorities put soil and aggregates on the track, which acted as brakes.

Till the train came to a halt, the passengers on the train spent tense moments fearing a fatal accident.

Rather than finding out why the brake failed, the railway has suspended the loco pilot and guard due to the incident.
