Maharashtra to take strict action against man who abused the Mahatma: Dy CM Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minsiter Ajit Pawar today assured the State Legislative Assembly that strict legal action would be taken against Kalicharan Baba, who used abuses while speaking about Mahatma Gandhi.

Kalicharan, in a speech at a Hindu sadhus’ convention, used abuses while referring to Mahatma Gandhi and at the same time praised Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse.

The matter was raised by State Minister Nawab Malik the Legislative Assembly today. He appealed to the government to take action against Kalicharan for his statement, which “not only insulted the Father of the Nation, but also caused pain to crores of followers of the Mahatma”. Malik said that the though the offence has been committed in Chhatisgarh, the video of the said speech has become viral over the social media and has been seen by many in the state.

Reacting to Malik’s demand, Bharatiya Janata Partly legislator Sudhir Mungantiwar, flayed Malik and the government for the demand, stating that Malik is part of the government and instead of seeking action against Kalicharan, the government should initiate action.

Other members of the house also demanded action. Reacting to the demand, Pawar, assured the House that strict action would be taken against Kalicharan.
