Maharashtra tops in startups under Startup India

 

Maharashtra has topped in startups under Startup India, with 8,353 startups recognised till March 14, 2021, since the start of the initiative on January 16, 2016.

“The initiative aims at fostering entrepreneurship and promoting innovation by creating an ecosystem that is conducive to growth of Startups. Since the launch of Startup India initiative, a total of 44,766 startups have been recognised by Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) as on 14th March 2021,” Minister of State, Commerce and Industry Som Parkash stated in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.

Karnataka ranked second with 5,999 startups during the period. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana ranked fourth, fifth and sixth with 3,880, 2,622 and 2,495 respectively.
