Mamata wins Bhabanipur, TMC wins all three by-poll seats

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has won the Assembly by-poll from the Bhabanipur constituency defeating Bharatiya Janata Party’s Priyanka Tibrewal. Banerjee won by a margin of 58,832 votes.

Banerjee’s party, Trinamool Congress (TMC) also won the Jangipur and Samsherganj Assembly seats in the by-election.

Zakir Hossain won from Jangipur with a margin of 92,232 votes and Amirul Islam won by a margin of 26.111 from Samsherganj.
Soon after her defeat, Tibrewal wrote to Calcutta High Court Chief Justice seeking preventive measures anticipating possible post-poll violence.
