Worried about physically challenged son’s future, mother poisons, attempts suicide

Concerned over the survival of her physically challenged son later in life, a 65-year-old mother poisoned her 27-year-old son to death, before attempting to end her life in Telangana on Friday.

Muske Madhunamma gave a pesticide to Kumar, her physically challenged son, and later she also drank the pesticide. The Madhunamma is a resident of Keshavapur in Jammikunta, Telangana and at the time of the incident, she and her son were staying at her younger daughter’s [lace in Machanapalli.

Madhunamma is herself a patient of a neurological disorder and was worried about the future of her handicapped son, in case of her death. As a result of the concern, she decided to kill him and commit suicide. While Kumar died of the pesticide related poison, Madhunamma, survived.

Madhunamma, lost her husband 15 years ago. She started working as an agricultural labourer after his death.
