12 Opposition Rajya Sabha MPs’ voices muzzled for entire session
The Rajya Sabha began its proceedings of the first day of the current Winter Session today, by suspending 12 members, all belonging to the opposition parties.
A suspension notice read out in the House said that the Members of Parliament (MPs) have lowered the dignity of the House unprecedented acts of misconduct through their violent behaviour and 'intentional attacks' on security personnel on the last day of the monsoon session on August 11, 2021.
The members have been suspended for the entire Winter Session. The suspended members are Phulo Devi Netam, Chhaya Verma, R Bora, Rajamani Patel, Syed Nasir Hussain, Akhilesh Prasad Singh (all belonging to Congress), Priyanka Chaturvedi and Anil Desai of Shiv Sena; Dola Sen and Shanta Chhetri of TMC, Elamaram Kareem [CPI(M)] and Binoy Viswam (CPI)
