​​​​​​​Robbers rape woman, as they could rob only Rs 1,400

A woman was raped by robbers, who were upset that her husband had only Rs 1,400 to give them, when they came to rob him in Rajasthan's Sirohi district, on Wednesday.

According to the police four robbers broke into the couple’s home to rob them. They asked the man to strip and demanded money from him. When he gave them the Rs 1,400 he had, they demanded more money and valuables. He then gave them some silver jewellery they had in the house, the police said. However, angered that he did not have much to give them, they assaulted his wife and then raped her, in her husband’s presence.

The husband works as a security person and the couple was in a shock after the incident. They mustered courage on Friday and reported the matter to the police.

The police have arrested three accused and are searching for the fourth.
