Solapur farmer gets Rs 13 for 1123 kg of onions

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party promised during the election campaign, that prices would be brought down, little did Bapu Kavde expect to be hit hard by this.

Kavde, an onion grow from Solapur was paid only Rs 13 for the 1123 kg of onions he sold to Rudresh Shivanand Patil, a wholesaler, on December 1.

This information was tweeted by Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana leader Raju Shetti. Shetti also posted a photo of the receipt issued to Kavde.

The receipt shows that Kavde sold the onions, brought in 24 bags to Patil and after deducting labour charge, transport cost and other expenses, Patil paid Rs 13 to Kavde for the onions weighing 1123 kg.

This has to be seen in the light of statements by Union Ministers and BJP leaders that the farmers are getting a good deal in the country, thanks to the Modi and his government.

Shetti asked in his tweet whether the Rs 13 should be used for the 13th day rituals of the government.
