She Team’s job mela in Hyderabad
She Team of Hyderabad city police had organised a job mela for women, aiming to provide 3,000 in categories of skill, semi-skilled and unskilled to unemployed women.
The mela received a huge response from women in the city, with over 8,000 registrations. Of these 4,000 were called to participate in the job mela and the remaining 4,000 would be called later, it was announced.
She Team is a first of its kind initiative in the country launched by the Telangana government on October 24, 2014 with the vision of providing a safe and secure environment for women. These teams are headed by Shikha Goel, IPS, Additional Commissioner, Crimes and Special Investigation Team.
She Teams are engaged in round the clock surveillance of the city by mapping out “hotspots” and “hot timings” where offenders pounce on unsuspecting victims. “She teams are a boon to the women in the State who can get timely police help and go about their work without fear,” the She Team website states.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said on the occasion that the city police are in touch with over 25 companies to provide 3,000 jobs for women.
