Unnao police gun for vocal former IAS officer

Former officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Surya Pratap Singh has been asked by the Unnao Police in Uttar Pradesh to come for an inquiry at noon today.

Singh has been vocal on social media against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘wrong doings’ in the state.

The latest was his tweet flaying Yogi for a ‘fake tweet’ announcing the appointment of Durgesh Chaudhary as Lekhpal (accountant). According to Singh, Yogi later deleted the tweet.

The Uttar Pradesh police has filed six first information reports (FIR) in different police stations. Singh, had tweeted on it that even Allahabad High Court has different benches!   

In recent times, he raised his voice against Bikaru scandal and ration scam in the state.

An IAS officer of UP, Singh was transferred 54 times in 25 years, which speaks of his honesty and his attitude to fight against the wrong-doings of governments.

His academic qualifications include MBA, MPhil and PhD. He was also a member of the Indian Police Service, before qualifying for IAS.
