Kidnapping of minor girl, Tripura RSS leader held

Sumon Sarkar a local leader of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and resident of Bishagarh in Tripura was arrested yesterday on charges of kidnapping a minor girl.

The girl’s father had filed a case with the Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station on July 25 stating that his daughter was abducted the previous day by Sarkar. Apparently, the police failed to take any action on his complaint, so the complainant approached the Tripura High Court to seek justice for his daughter. The High Court order the police to take action in the case, following which the Sepahijala District police probed the matter and arrested Sarkar and Tapan Debnath, another RSS leader, based in Agratala.

Debnath allegedly confessed to the police that he had given shelter to Sarkar and the girl for a night.
