Coimbatore students' body holds vaccination camp for workers

Coimbatore Covid AID (CCA), a students group, organised a vaccination camp for workers in Coimbatore on July 6. CCA is a team of 40 students, dedicated to COVID relief and aid operations in and around Coimbatore district. CCA along with  COODU, another Coimbatore-based NGO,  organised the camp under the support and guidance of the District Administration through the Department of Health Services and Family Welfare and Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, Coimbatore.

In the camp, 260 people belonging to Koundampalayam were given the first dose of Covishield. KGM Hospitals, a private hospital based in Coimbatore, provided on-site medical support through nurses and a doctor for the duration of the camp.

Post vaccination, the beneficiaries were given  a kit containing masks, paracetamol tablets, a pack of biscuits and a flyer about the do’s and don’ts after getting the jab. Tavissi Jain, the founder of CCA, said, "The beneficiaries vaccinated on our camp were checked for BP, sugar levels and were given an information slip equipping them with post-vaccination care information and medication."

In the past few months, CCA organised campaigns such as 'Help Tirrupur Breathe', 'The Food Chapter' to name a few. The ‘Help Tiruppur Breathe’ was a fundraiser to procure and donate oxygen cylinders to the Government Hospital Pool of Tiruppur District, while  'The Food Chapter' connected COVID positive, quarantined families to those willing to provide them home-cooked meals. While the third wave is expected soon, the group has turned their attention towards expediting public vaccination.
