A treat for film enthusiasts and health workers all over the world is in store tomorrow, from World Health Organisation (WHO).

WHO will screen live, its awards function of the Health for All Film Festival tomorrow (May 14, 2021) from 2.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

WHO had called for entries for the Film Festival from October 24, 2020 to January 2021 and it received 1,200 entries from 110 countries. According to WHO, 40 per cent of the short films are featured on COVID-19.

Entries for the film festival came from such countries as Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, Portugal, United Kingdom, the United States of America, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Uganda. 

The Health for All Film Festival has three categories for competition. The first category is of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), which covers films about mental health, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and other UHC stories linked to communicable diseases not part of emergencies.

The next category is of Health Emergencies meant for films about health emergencies, for instance COVID-19, Ebola, disaster relief and health in war-zones.

The third category is Better Health and Well-being, which is for films about environmental and social determinants of health, such as nutrition, sanitation, pollution, gender, and/or about health promotion or health education.

The duration of the films various from one minute to eight minutes, in genres ranging from short documentaries or fiction to animation films.
