​​​​​​​Indore women save girl from possible rape

An eight-year-old girl’s cry for help and the spontaneous response of women of the area, saved the girl from a possible rape in Indore yesterday.

According to the police, the girl was playing with her friends in Kanadiya locality of Indore, when an onion and potato seller, caught hold of her and took her behind bushes and stripped her. Protesting his overtures, she shouted for help. Luckily for the girl, some women heard her cries and saved her from the clutches of the onion seller.

Soon more people joined in and they thrashed the culprit, who managed to escape from their clutches.  However, some people were able to establish his identity and a case was registered against him in the local police station.

The police have registered a case under various sections, including abduction and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and have arrested the accused.

The girl sustained an injury near her eye during the incident.
