​​​​​​​Women may give security cover to Amit Shah

Women will now be deployed in the Very Very Important Persons (VVIP) security squad, following a decision by the Union Home Ministry.

The ministry has granted permission to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to deploy its women constables for VVIP security duty, which is tell date the domain of men in the force.

In the initial phase, 30 women constables will be selected and they will undergo extensive training for two months. The men too have to go through similar training.

Among those given VVIP security cover are Union home minister Amit Shah, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress working president Sonia Gandhi. and party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra among others.

The Union Home Ministry established the special squads for VVIP security under CRPF and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), following recommendation by a parliamentary panel had asked the government to speed up the process of handing over VIP security.
