The Union Government is sending a three-member medical team to Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh, where over 300 children have taken ill due to some undiagnosed disease.
The team comprises Dr Jamshed Nayar, Associate Professor (Emergency Medicine) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, Dr Avinash Deoshtawar, Virologist, National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune and Dr Sanket Kulkarni, Deputy Director, Public Health Expert from National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Delhi.
The decision to send a medical team was taken by Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, after Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, spoke to him about the illness of the children.
