Bail for dalit, labour activist Nodeep Kaur
Labour activist Nodeep Kaur has been granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court this morning. Nodeep Kaur was arrested on January 12, while protesting with labourers at the Kundli border of Delhi.
After denying entry to a Dalit family, two upper-caste Hindus issued an apology after the police intervention. A complaint was registered earlier in Coimbatore’s Thudiyalur police station by R Kamatchi of NGGO Colony alleging caste discrimination.
The woman stated that she was not allowed to enter the temple in Balaji Nagar along with her son and his family on January 25. As per the complaint, she was refused entry by a man and woman because she was a Dalit. Kamatchi informed that her family had to offer prayer while standing outside the temple.
Two 18-year-old Dalit teenagers were bound to a tree and beaten with lathis, in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, by four men belonging to an upper-caste community for more than 12 hours, accusing them of stealing hens.
