Focus on physical and mental issues of children: Kerala State Child Rights Commission head
Kerala State Child Rights Commission Chairperson K V Manoj Kumar has appealed to school teachers and members of Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) members in the state to focus on resolving the physical and mental issues of children as they return to school tomorrow after two years.
Schools in the state will reopen on November 1, after a gap of two years and Manoj Kumar has reminded teachers and parents that children would be back in school after being kept away from social interactions and gatherings for several months. His instructions came at a meeting held yesterday, which he chaired, to assess the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
Academic and general guidelines have been issued by the General Education Department keeping in mind the reopening of schools. The Child Rights Commission chairperson said that it should be ensured that the guidelines are adhered to by all stakeholders, as laid down in the RTE Act.
The meeting also discussed safety of children in general and on vehicles carrying them to school, functioning of school level committees and rivival of the school health programme.
