The West Bengal legislative assembly today passed a resolution demanding that the Central Government should immediately withdraw the three farm bills, against which farmers in the country have been protesting since the laws were passed.
The resolution in the West Bengal assembly was introduced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee. Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee demanded that the Central Government should either withdraw the three bills or step down.
The opposition parties comprising the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Indian National Congress supported the resolution, but demanded that West Bengal Government should also withdraw similar laws introduced in the state few years ago.
